MONTREAL’S BLACK & BLUE FESTIVAL: A NEW ASSOCIATION WITH THE SAINT AT LARGE OF NEW YORK, A NEW VENUE, NEW EVENTS, AND A NEW DIRECTION !

March 11, 2013

The BBCM Foundation is proud to announce that the 23rd annual edition of the Montreal Black & Blue Festival will take place from October 9 to 15 over Canadian Thanksgiving and the U.S. Columbus Day Weekend.

The Black & Blue is one of the best gay innovative events on the planet, and this year, it promises to reach new artistic levels with a special association with the mythical Saint at Large of New York, the organization behind the long ongoing success of the Black Party in New York. With two talented forces behind two of the best gay events, now working in symbiosis, this can only mean a gay enhanced and very exciting Black & Blue. Starting in 2013, the event will be re-geared towards the gay tourist jet setters from all over the world but with a focus on the U.S.A., in a strategic alliance between Montreal and New York, seen as sister cities on several levels.

For the 23rd edition of Black & Blue, the joint teams are working specifically on the main event of the Black & Blue Festival which will be presented for the first time in an entirely new major venue, with a cool “warehouse” feel. The event will feature some of the best electronic music DJs from around the world, a variety of shows and artistic interventions in the large space converted into a big underground club for thousands of people.

The BBCM Foundation will also present, for the very first time, a special interactive art event (exhibition and live art) called “La Grande Messe d’Art”. The exhibition will be presented in a room adjacent to the main party room, and will feature major paintings/artworks created ‘live’ during the Black & Blue Weekend and during the Main Party with simultaneous entertainment, kiosks and live music. It will be accessible during the weekend to allow various crowds (art collectors, different types of participants, etc.) to discover and bid on the different artworks in a silent auction to the benefit of the BBCM Foundation. More than 30 local and international emerging and well-established artists are already booked for this new major interactive art portion of the event.

Favourite events will also be back during the week-long festival, including the Leather Ball (Friday night) and the Hard Ball (Saturday night).
